![]() They have no need for Templars either because they have their own rituals designed to get rid of the spirits, however reluctant they may be - there's no need for the more hostile and aggressive, defensive approach where the Chantry encourages mages and Templars alike to be 'on their guard'. It's more like a healthy coexistence where each respects the other as opposed to mages subjugating and hurting spirits (that then become demons) based on fear or distrust and misunderstanding them. They don't have an institution like the Chantry preaching about fear of demons, corruption or abomination instead they see spirits as more akin to trusted advisors and friends, even representing their own gods or ancestors to some extent. The Avvar seem to have the healthiest relationship with spirits/spirit-based magic that we've seen so far in Thedas.
